Project Turnabout is taking applications for potential open positions for the following:

INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE

Project Turnabout offers Internship opportunities for Chemical Dependency Counselors, Psychologists, and other related fields.  We offer qualified Counselors and Supervisors, as well as a complete counseling experience when you participate in a full time internship.  You will learn to do group, family, and one to one counseling; work with referents and staff as a team in order to offer our patients an optimal treatment experience.  We  offer housing at a reduced rate and meals for interns while you are here.  Project Turnabout has 4 facilities located in Marshall, Redwood Wood Falls, Willmar, and Granite Falls.  Internships are available at all campus sites, both residential and non-residential.  The main campus is located at Granite Falls, which is an easy commute from both Marshall and Willmar.  There is excellent shopping, schools, regional health care facilities, as well as entertainment opportunities.  Many internship opportunities have turned into jobs with the organization upon completion.  Please contact Donna Chmelar if you have any questions and are interested in applying for an internship.

I am often asked, "What does it take to become an Alcohol and Drug Counselor."  The short answer for this is that you must have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and some college course work related to Alcohol and Drug Studies, 880 hours (5 months) of internship and then to pass the MN CD test (which is administered periodically throughout the year.)  It takes approximately 12-18 Months after your Bachelor's degree to complete this.  Several Universities in the State of Minnesota do offer specific Bachelor's degrees in Alcohol and Drug studies, some even on line.  If you call me, Donna Chmelar, at 800-862-1453, I would be happy to discuss your options with you.
